Twilight
So, now that I'm completely obsessed with the Twilight series, and making my way through the fourth book at the heartbreakingly slow pace that Amy is making me take (I'm only allowed to read it in her presence, so she can see my reactions), I did some peeking on IMDB at the ads for the movie. I shouldn't have, I don't think. I'm definitely going to go see it the day it opens, but I'm also unhappy with the casting. I mean, yes, where are you going to get someone to play an angelic, too-perfect vampire man? But really, that dude isn't anything like how I picture Edward. Still, I know this is a personal thing, influenced by my distinct ideas about what good, handsome vampires look like. Here's what really bugs me: the kid who plays Jacob? Cute, but...not Native American. I mean, COME ON. Yes, I know that the whole point of acting is portraying someone who isn't yourself, and that actors play all kinds of roles, and blah blah...but when you've got a part for a racial minority so underrepresented and misrepresented, why give it to some white kid with a tan?

I've been avoiding everything associated with the movie for that reason--I just don't think it can compare to what's in my head. Not to mention that Bella is probably going to be so much more annoying in person....
That's a real shame about the Jacob casting, though. Native American guys are hot--I'm sure they could have found a Native actor willing to do the role.
