Update on Body Alteration

I've decided for certain that the thing to do is to dye my hair a funky color. Or rather, get it dyed a funky color, I don't trust myself to do it if it involves bleaching. Right now I'm thinking about a sort of combination of suggestions; Maddie's firetruck red idea is very appealing, as is Charlotte's idea of chunks of bright red and light purple, but I think I want more red than purple. So, firetruck red with a few chunks or streaks or sections of light purple. That's the current thought, anyway. I'm tempted to get a rainbow, but that might be a little too flashy for me, and I'm concerned that I'd look like a toy (think My Little Pony). Any further suggestions, now that hair coloration is the mode of change? ;)

I Need A Change.

I've been feeling the need for some kind of visible change, perhaps something dramatic. Body alteration of some kind. But what? Dye my hair funky colors? Get an unusual piercing? A new tattoo, for which I probably don't have the money? I thought of growing my hair out, and I may still go with that, but it takes too long. I want a change NOW. Something new, eye-catching. Suggestions are most definitely welcome.

5. Billy Joel
6. Beach Boys

--first song you ever heard by 6?:
Good God, I have no idea. The first one I have a distinct memory of knowing was "Help Me Rhonda" when I was.... 6 or 7?

-What is your favorite song of 8?:
The title escapes me... the cleavage one.

-What kind of impact has 1 left on your life?
Oh...they were part of the soundtrack of my life during my coming out phase, so, a rather large impact.

-What is your favorite lyric of 5?:
Strangely, "...a big waterbed that they bought with the bread they had saved for a couple of years..." Not strangely, "...out in Bethlehem they're killing time, filling out forms, standing in line..."

-How many times have you seen 4 live?:
Never, sadly. They're a new interest.

-What is your favorite song by 7?:
Hah! What a question! "Cool As I Am," of course.

-Is there any song by 3 that makes you sad?
They're pretty peppy, even the sad songs... so I can't think of one off the top of my head.

-What is your favorite lyric of 2?
"Hold your head high, keep a smile upon your face, you'll be gone before you know it. Hold your shoulders square upon your back, turn your face into the sun." Also "Why are you weeping? Yes, I still love you."

-What is your favorite song by 9?:
I don't know many of his songs yet, actually. So far my favorite is "You're Beautiful."

-When did you first get into 1?
At BMC, unsurprisingly, when Kierstin played "Galileo" for us on a Night Owls trip.

-How did you get into 3?:
Mom and Dad, and Oldies 99.9!

-What is your favorite song by 4?:
"Trouble," I think.

-How many times have you seen 9 live?
None. :(

-What is a good memory concerning 2
Hmmm.... The first time I heard "Good Mother," which made me cry, and was sent to me by my best bud in my London flat.

-Is there a song by 8 that makes you sad?:
At the moment, many of them do. But I like them anyway!

-What is your favorite song of 1?:
Wow, that's hard. Probably "Closer to Fine" or "Galileo," for sentimental reasons. Also "The Wood Song."

-How did you become a fan of 10?
Musikfest! Yay!

Look-Alikes?

I'm not sure how I feel about these results. But I'm interested that there are three Asian women among them. I'm also interested in the fact that just based on the picture, I think I look the most like the two men. Maybe I'll try with a different pic, if I ever find a better one.

You Know You're From Philly When....

You've never referred to Philadelphia as anything but "Philly." And New Jersey has always been "Jersey."

You refer to Pennsylvania as "PA."

You know how to pronounce Bryn Mawr, Schuylkill, Bala Cynwyd, Duquesne, Punxsutawney, Susquehanna, and Allegheny.

You know what a "Mummer" is.

You can use the phrase "fire hall wedding reception" and not even bat an eye.

You absolutely hate T.O.

You really miss Y-100.

At least 5 people on your block have electric "candles" in all or most of their windows all year long.

Words like "hoagie", "sticky buns", "shoo-fly pie", "pirogues" and "pocketbook" actually mean something to you.

You know the time and location of every "wing night" in a 20 mile radius.

You consider an exotic vacation to be a trip to Ocean City, Virginia Beach, or Myrtle Beach.

You think very little of an Amish buggy on the road.

You’ve run up the steps to the art museum emulating Rocky at least once.

You know that Intercourse, Climax, Virginville, Paradise, Mars, and Slippery Rock, Blue Ball, and Bird in Hand are all PA towns.

You love Birch Beer.

You consider Pittsburgh to be "out west," and you know the fastest way to Philly is the Turnpike.

When the forecast said snow, you stayed up waiting for them to announce that school was cancelled.

You know that more than two inches of snow will at least get you a two hour delay.

You have an uncontrollable urge to buy bread and milk when you hear the word "snow."

You live within two miles of a plant that makes potato chips, corn chips, pretzels, candy, or ice cream, or that packages turkeys, beans, or bologna.

You think the roads in any other state are smooth.

Refer to something as "a whole nother," e.g., "That's a whole nother issue."

You punctuate every sentence with, "You know" at least twice.

You want olive oil, not mayonnaise on your hoagie.

You hate the Redskins

Your favorite desert is water ice. (pronounced "wooder" ice)

You find yourself using "yo" and "youse guys" when talking long-distance to family members.

You find yourself at a nice restaurant thinking "I wonder if they have cheese steaks?"

You visit New York and are impressed by how clean it is.

You've had more than one debate on why Wawa is better than Sheetz.

You call sprinkles on top of your ice cream cone "jimmies".

You can't imagine lunch without a Tastykake.

A vacation at the Jersey shore is better than going to an island (there's more stuff to do, plus you know everybody.)

You know where to find the Rocky statue.

You know that only tourists go to Geno's, Pat's and Jim's for authentic cheese steaks.

You've never been to the Liberty Bell, or the only time you were there was on a class trip in third grade.

You know what and where "Boathouse Row" is

You will buy a pretzel from anyone, anywhere without even thinking of where it was - or where his hands have been.

You can't imagine a breakfast without scrapple.

You don't know what a sub is, but you think they are trying to describe an imitation HOAGIE.

You aren't a bandwagon Sixers fan, you loved them when they sucked, and before they had A.I.

You go to The Gallery or South Street in the summer time just to chill.

You call the Dallas Cowboys the Cowgirls.

When every year a team makes it close to or to the post season and yet every year you still find your self saying i know how this is gonna end...there's always next year.

If you never took a field trip to anywhere other than the franklin institute, the zoo, the art museum, or the museum of natural science

If you listen to Preston and Steve EVERY morning.

If you know every word to the theme song from the fresh prince of Bel Air.

First Day of Class!

Today was my first day of class. I wasn't exactly sure how it was going to go; I've definitely been feeling for some time that I needed to get back into academia, that's why I applied for schools in the first place, but I've never been the kind of student who just soaks in everything with great interest. I'm smart, but I've always tried not to work too hard. But now that it's been a while, and my outlooks on life have changed, I'm finding that I'm excited to read theory and do assignments and have discussions, and I'm taking notes, and highlighting, and generally making a good student of myself. I have more to say about this, but I'm quite exhausted, and maybe I'll reflect some more tomorrow, after I've had another class.

In Boston

Hello, all. I'm in Boston. Right now, and for a sad majority of the week and a half we've been here, Boston sucks. In other news, I'm applying for a phone sex job (at least, it sounds like a phone sex job), because it's lucrative and I can do it from home. Might as well fill up my time with working, so I have money for traveling to places I'd rather be! Wish me luck. $19/hour, baby.
